THINGS TO DO

Port Isaac is a great place for kids, young and not so young. There are many activities which they can take part in such as:

  • Rock Climbing
  • Rockpooling
  • Crabbing
  • Swimming
  • Skimming stones
  • Ice cream
  • RNLI Lifeboat
  • Village playground
  • Fishing or sightseeing trips

Around Port Isaac:

  • The Olde House at Chapel Amble (swimming pool, playground and soft play)
  • Wadebridge Leisure Centre
  • Walking on the beach – try Rock, Polzeath or Daymer Bay
  • Surfing – there are several surf schools and hire places on and near the beach at Polzeath
  • Sailing and water skiing
  • Blue Reef Aquarium Newquay

Port Isaac is the setting of the fictional village of Port Wenn in the ITV series Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes. Directly out of Encliffe you can see Fern Cottage which is the Doc’s surgery. On your visit, if you are a fan of the programme, see if you can spot any other locations. The Liberal Club is the village shop, the house called Little Dolphins in Middle Street is the chemist. See if you can get into the pub from the supposed entrance in the alley by the Plat, but don’t try too hard as you’ll end up in someone’s house!

Fisherman’s Friends

Port Isaac’s superstars, Fisherman’s Friends appear, free (donations accepted) on the plat by the harbour every Friday evening in the summer at about 8pm.
